DEFACE OF FASHION

Hattie Stewart is a London-based illustrator creating graphic, whimsical images with a distinctly urban feel. She is well connected to the fashion world, having worked with Diesel, Adidas and House of Holland. Armed with an arsenal of permanent markers she has created a series of graffitied magazine covers: ‘megazines’. She covers models with darkly cartoonish doodles that fall somewhere between Jean Basquiat and Keith Haring in style. Street art meets high fashion, and they get along like a house on fire.

This defaced copy of Pop magazine is a clever parody, ruling out ‘pop shit’ in favour of love and art. Sweet, no? Although I’m a big fan of Pop, I think it’s something of a masterpiece.

Be sure to check out her graffitied porn mags and collaboration with House of Holland, too.
