The Exeter Fashion Society committee showcase the fashion and beauty buys that they’ve been craving over the past few weeks. In no particular order…
CHARLOTTE – SOCIAL SEC
Summer’s quickly coming to a close, so I went for this little Topshop number for showing off some leg before it would result in pneumonia. I’d team it with a cute blouse, some glossy accessories and a gorgeous patterned knit or statement blazer. Buy it here.
MARINA – MARKETING CHAIR
I chose this jumper because it will help carry my wardrobe over from summer to autumn. It’s a versatile piece, incorporating both the oversize and dip dye trends without being too garish or neon – a summer trend which I didn’t enjoy. I’d wear it to lectures with dark skinny jeans, a pair of pale vans and a beanie hat.
MARK – BLOG CURATOR + DESIGN SEC
I’m always partial to a bit of iridescence, and it’s not often we get to enjoy it in the world of menswear. I’ve been lusting after this unisex jewel wallet by Commes Des Garcon for a long time. To let it take centre stage I’d combine it with a loose, oversized black knit, slim black jeans, black chelsea boots (yeah, more black) and the Commes fragrance ‘2’. Either that or I’d use it as part of a kaleidoscopic mash-up of clashing colours, textures and prints. Far out mannnn.
AGGIE- BLOG CURATOR
Brought to us by the same total babe that turned Tony from Skins into Colin Firth’s own Lolita, this lip colour winks at the decadent grunge trends aching across Aw12. Not only is its packaging enough to have even Phillip Hensher swooning, a swift, straight-to-the mouth application is the best ‘shut the fuck up’ during seminar small talk. Looks best with a naked face and brows to rival Cara Delevigne, or just wear it when you get naked. YOLO.
JOELLE – SECRETARY
Paisley prints feature heavily in Stella McCartney’s latest collection and have already been a hit with style icons like Nicole Kidman. These paisley print hotpants from Topshop can be dressed down with an oversized jumper or matched with a blazer for a more formal occasion and the colours make it a good item to carry over to the autumn/winter season.
ADRIEN BOOK – VICE PRESIDENT
This jacket is a menswear must-have this fall as it provides warmth, comfort and style. Despite its one-button persuasion and its contrast colour stitching, it remains fairly classic. I’d advise wearing it with chinos, a shirt and a pair of brogues
URENNA – FINANCIAL SEC
I’ve always been a fan of studs so when I stumbled upon this jacket it was love at first sight. I love it because it can be styled to any look. For something casual I’d team it with dark trousers (without going for denim on denim), a simple top and a pair of sneakers for comfort. For a more chic look on a night out, try donning it with a bralet and leggings or a cute LBD and finish off with killer stilletos. That’s bound to turn heads!
REBECCA MCPHERSON – PRESIDENT
My lust for this month is this gorgeous Chanel mascara. After a disappointing summer I’m ready to welcome back a more intense autumn/winter make up look. This mascara lengthens lashes to an almost false appearance. All four shades will go down a treat for a glam Autumn evening look.
