Shemayne Yarde writes a Valentine’s love letter to Burberry, the historical British fashion house delivering a futuristic new line of trench coats for the coming season.
It’s almost that time of the year when couples get all loved up and singletons get grumpy, so instead of joining the masses with a playlist of tear-jerking love songs (down with V-Day!), I am here to report on the real love of my life and many fashion-forward people this season: Burberry!
The label’s new campaign has it’s eyes set on leather and metallics for the S/S13 season, especially focusing on their new trench coat collection which screams ‘traditional trench with an electric twist.’ The bold colours and textures vary from soft, strokable and smooth to wrinkled and aluminium foil-esque.
For the Burberry guy or girl who isn’t quite ready for this upbeat, bright collection there’s also the brand’s S/S13 London and Brit collections which are more grounded and classically British. The designs are sleek, sophisticated and elegantly poised. Christopher Bailey plays with different shades of blue and browns to give us that traditional British countryside feel.
Finally, how about a little Valentine’s Day reference? Romeo, Romeo, where forth art thou Romeo? Burberry seem to have found him; the 10 year old son of David and Victoria Beckham has made his modelling debut in this season’s campaign, alongside Burberry favourites Edie Campbell and Cara Delevingne! Isn’t he a cutie?
